The triangular tournament, also, featured the presence of the Real Sociedad and a Chinese XI who lost against Rayo Vallecano in the shootout.
QBAO – the prestigious Chinese brand – is starting to grow in Spanish football and is the official sponsor of two of the biggest clubs in La Liga, Rayo Vallecano and Real Sociedad. As part of this agreement, the youth teams of both clubs met the Chinese XI in a triangular trophy and the Madrid team emerged victorious.
The QBAO tournament began with an interesting encounter between Real Sociedad and the China Team. The Asian team, despite ending the tournament unbeaten, finished in last place. Sociedad began the game well but the first half ended 0-0. After the break, 4 goals were scored. The Chinese XI went ahead and, although Real took the lead, they couldn’t hold on and the game finished 2-2 with the Chinese team scoring a last minute equaliser. The game was decided by penalties and the Spanish team were victorious.
The second match saw both Spanish clubs face each other. Despite there being chances for both sides, it was another penalty shootout which decided the game and Rayo showed their quality from 12 yards. This result meant that if Rayo could win their final game, they would be crowned champions.
In the final game, Rayo took the game to their Chinese opposition and took the lead in the first half. The second half saw the Chinese XI equalise which set up a tense finish to the game. Both sides seemed nervous about making a mistake and the game ended in a draw and the QBAO tournament would be decided with penalties.
Rayo Vallecano were, eventually, crowned champions with Real Sociedad in second place and the team from China in third.
We hope that, in the future, we will see some of the boys from the MV8 Academy taking part in the competition. More info
